Important Update: Late last week (April 13-19) the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) Region 2 Office (Ephrata) learned we will lose public access to Grimes Lake (Douglas County) effective immediately. Grimes Lake is the only “quality water” (i.e., selective gear rules) in Douglas County and one of the few lakes in Washington planted with Lahontan cutthroat trout. Public access for the past 40+ years has been through a lease agreement with the private landowner. That landowner has decided to terminate the lease with WDFW. I do not have any details on why the landowner decided to terminate the lease. In the coming week(s) WDFW will develop outreach materials to notify anglers before the June 1st season start date. We will also post signs leading into Grimes Lake to alert anglers.
